In March 2019, Mary’s life was turned upside down when 6 feet of water flooded her home and her belongings were washed away. But her family stayed hopeful, and with support from our community and United Way donors, she got to stay in her (newly remodeled) home of 35+ years.
“Dying for the Dream” is a documentary about people who have illegally crossed into the United States from Mexico, but die from harsh conditions and dangerous environments in the Sonoran Desert. What happens to their body? How are they identified? Who is affected? A Ky+Lily production, this is the product of combined efforts from Kylie Gumpert and Liliana Salgado.
The Farmer and the Bee
“The Farmer and the Bee” touches on the decline of bees in the Southwestern United States, and what farmers and beekeepers are doing to keep populations healthy and thriving. Simple, sustainable practices in lieu of pesticides can save these creatures that are essential to pollination and crop growth. A Bees Knees production, this is the product of combined efforts from Kylie Gumpert and Curt Truman.
Austin’s Secret
“Austin’s Secret” was born from a business journalism class assignment out of the Walter Cronkite School at Arizona State, where I teamed up with Mark Remillard and together we moseyed on down to Austin, Texas, the fastest growing city in the U.S. Our mission? To figure out the city’s secret to success, and bring it back to Phoenix for a project about reinventing the desert city’s economy.
We’re all a little strange, but thankfully these kiddos are mighty entertaining as well. 🙂 While working with DIBS for Kids, we placed GoPro cameras in classrooms to capture what student morning routines look like to show how DIBS’ tech works and how kids use it. We got what we needed and more. The team couldn’t keep these silly moments to ourselves. Enjoy!
